Dolphins is based in the mobile classroom and is an extended part of our SEND and pastoral provision.
We will be able to offer further support for children who may struggle at times in school for a number of reasons and offer a designated base to create a calm and nurturing environment for our learners.
This year, we are lucky enough to have a great team of staff who all play an important role in the Dolphins base.
Dolphins Staff:
Mrs Johnson - SENDCo / Dolphins Lead
Mrs Dexter - SEN Support
Miss Pope - Pastoral Lead
Mrs McCarthy - Lead THRIVE Practitioner / HLTA
Mrs Lucas - THRIVE Practitioner / TA
Miss Targa - Inclusion Support / TA
This is also alongside the fantastic pastoral work Mrs Simmonds provides and the ELSA support Mrs Mcdavid continues to do within school.
The Dolphins team will offer pastoral, social and emotional and academic support for children identified in school and will offer a range of provision.
This includes: | ||

We are excited to be starting a whole school provision this year called THRIVE. The Thrive approach is a whole school approach to supporting the right-time social and emotional development of all children. Thrive can be done in small groups or 1:1 sessions depending on individual needs. Thrive can help understand what children and young people are trying to communicate through their behaviour - so we can promote their positive mental health, improve their ability to learn, and open their doors to a bright future. It is a neuroscience and psychology-based approach to helping children and young people thrive.
We are lucky enough to have two members of staff who are currently undergoing Thrive practitioner training and we look forward to starting Thrive officially in the new year (Jan 2023). We have already had whole school induction training for all teachers and TAs.
