At the conclusion of the statutory consultation period and agreement by Dorset Council Shadow Executive on the 12 November 2018 please find attached Dorset’s Home to School Transport Policy & Post 16 Transport Support Policy for 2019/2020.

Transport policies Documents; Transport assistance policy for children attending school. Home to School Transport Policy 18/19: The post 16 transport policy provides information which should be considered when students consider their options and make applications for post 16 courses.



Secondary School Headteachers - Please can Year 11 students be encouraged to look at the Post 16 Transport Assistance Policy as this may be useful information as they consider their Post 16 options.

Dear Colleagues,


Dorset are running the annual consultation on the School Admission Arrangements for 2020/2021 with effect from Monday 12th November 2018 to Friday 21st December 2018. Details of the consultation will be available to view at,43802 from 9am on Monday 12th November 2018.

Education and training -

Apply for a school place, school term dates and adult education and training courses

Responses must be submitted either in writing to School Admissions Team, Dorset County Council, County Hall, Dorchester, DT1 1XJ or by email to by Friday 21st December 2018. Upon the conclusion of the consultation period all responses will be considered carefully and a report will be presented to the shadow executive prior to the determination deadline on 28th February 2019.


We ask that schools should make reference to the consultation on their websites. They should also inform their parents about the consultation via newsletter and/or other appropriate social media outlets such as Facebook so they are given an opportunity to comment, if they wish to do so.


The key dates for the consultation are set out below:


Dorset LA consultation begins

12th November 2018

Dorset LA consultation ends

21st December 2018

Own Admission Authorities (including Dorset LA) determine Admission Arrangements

28th February 2019

Own Admission Authorities (including Dorset LA) publish Admission Arrangements

15th March 2019

Deadline for Objections to Office of the School’s Adjudicator

15th May 2019


Own admission authority schools are reminded that they must carry out their own consultation if they are proposing changes to their admission arrangements for 2020/2021. Consultation must be carried out over a 6 week period between 1st October 2018 – 31st January 2019.
