To develop a lifelong healthy attitude to sport and physical activity for the enjoyment it brings, the teamwork it engenders and the values it upholds.
We have again been awarded a Gold Kitemark by the School Games to reward us for our commitment to the development of competition across our school and into the community for the year 2016-2017. We achieved this by continuing to provide opportunities for our children to take part in intra-school (within the school) competitions and inter-school competitions (between schools), by offering lots of school clubs, by encouraging leadership (Sports leaders) in the School Games and by improving the PE opportunities for all our children in the school. We have a School games noticeboard where there will be a calendar of the competition dates for this year and there is also a website where we hope to display all the results www.yourschoolgames.com. We as a school are committed to promoting the School Games values through sport which are:
Determination, Teamwork, Self-belief, Respect, Passion and Honesty.
We have also been awarded the Silver Quality Mark from The Youth Sports Trust.
Please can you make sure that your child has PE kit in school from Monday to Friday so they can take part fully in this important part of the school day. The PE kit should consist of a green Burton School T shirt, black shorts, socks and a pair of trainers or plimsolls for inside. The children may wear a sweatshirt and joggers outside when the weather gets colder. Children should not wear a watch or any jewellery. If your child has pierced ears and cannot take out the earrings then they should cover them with tape.
