Coding using scratch Jr

KS1 Have been learning to use Scratch Jr to code a program. They have created algorithms that show the 4 seasons and how they change. The can now understand that sequences of commands have an outcome, and make predictions based on their learning.

Digital painting

The children have been developing their understanding of a range of tools used for digital painting using Ipads. They then used these tools to create their own digital paintings, while gaining inspiration from a range of artists’ work. The unit concluded with the children considering their preferences when painting with and without the use of digital devices. 

Moving a robot

In this programming unit the children have been learning all about sequencing commands through the BeeBots. They have identified what each command for the floor robot does, and used that knowledge to start predicting the outcome of programs. They have worked with a partner to create and debug a sequence of commands to get their floor robot from one location the the next.

Making Music

In this unit the children listened to a variety of pieces of music and considered how music can make them think and feel. They then compared creating music digitally and non-digitally. They looked at patterns and purposefully create music. The children explored how to create music digitally using different software on Chrome Music Lab.
