Today, there are two activities to do.
Last week we made icebergs. Take a look at the gallery to see all the brilliant ones that were made. Today we are going to complete a fill-in-the-blanks iceberg challenge that we should have done last week. To do this you can either: write the words into the missing gaps or if you are someone who needs handwriting practise then copy out in your best fluent joined writing and complete.
To start our week we are going to begin to hear from survivors of the Titanic. Listen to what you are told and add any information that you think will give you more detail to your recount notes. We are writing our recounts tomorrow in English.
Mrs Kilgore and I were really impressed with your Titanic drawings, paintings, models and Minecraft. We have decided to let you have the opportunity to repeat these skills creating 'The Carpathia' rescue ship.
Have a go at creating your own version in any manner you would like.
We hope you enjoyed the art lesson yesterday. Mrs Kilgore and I received lots of your amazing work. We love how original and creative you are. Please bear with us as we go through, comment and upload all your work as we are teaching during the day too.
Today we would like you to find out more about The Carpathia. Watch the videos below, look at the sources and find out what finally happened to this historic rescue ship.
What was this ship used for?
Who heard the distress call?
Where were they originally heading?
Who was the captain?
How did they manage to get the passengers off the lifeboats - in particular the children, the elderly and those who were too cold to climb or had died whilst being on the boats?
I have created a pdf for you to make notes on, but you can design your own poster/fact file.
Today Mrs Kilgore and I have decided to go off topic for a day. As you hopefully are aware, I sent your parents a Marvellous Me on Monday about an art competition running in our BCP area. We think it is really important for us to support this. We have all seen all the recent images of the terrible state our local beaches were left in and the impact the recent devastating fire has had on woodland near Wareham because of throw away BBQ's being left.
It is time to offer our support to the 'Leave only Footprints' campaign.
We would like you to read the brief given and complete a piece of artwork to support this. It would be amazing to know that our Kestrels and Owls work could be turned into signs used in the local area. Thank you to Noah and Ruby L who have sent me entries already.
The deadline for me to send our entries is THIS FRIDAY 3rd JULY so we are giving you today to create your entry.
The Titanic ship was one of the first ships to have electric lighting at the time when most people did not have electricity in their homes. We did not get time yesterday to focus on Thomas Andrew but we will come back to him next week. He had an important role in the history of the ship and we will need to look at him when we think about the blame game!
Today as the Titanic was one of the first ships with electric lights, we are going to delve into science and focus on light.
Enjoy the clips and look at the PowerPoint.
The task for today is on the final slides of the PowerPoint.
