At Burton CE Primary School we value and respect our children as individuals; whatever their needs. We are an inclusive school and take pride in our pupils' engagement in learning across the curriculum. Progress is carefully monitored and parents/carers are valued as part of the team when it comes to meeting their child's particular needs and overcoming any barriers to learning.
The school has recently become involved in the Achievement for All project which is a two year project looking at raising the standards for all of our pupils. Achievement for All not only looks at the academic side of school but also the wider outcomes for our pupils and the '3As' - Achievement, Aspiration and Access.
Children may need extra support, sometimes in the classroom with the teacher or learning support assistant (LSA) or maybe through more personalised intervention. If further support is needed then a range of outside agencies may be involved. These might include the School Nurse, Speech and Language Therapist, Special Educational Needs Support Specialist Teacher, Behaviour Support Services or the Educational Psychologist
As a school we recognise the importance of children’s emotional development and, in addition to our Pastoral Care Worker, we also have the support of ELSAs (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants). Please see our Pastoral Care page for more information.
