Some lovely conservation news from some of our students.

A couple of weeks ago, Oscar, Chloe, Courtney and Somerley asked me to help them with a baby hedgehog wandering around in one of their gardens during the day.  They had totally done the right thing, as it's never a good sign a baby hoggy is on its own in the day.  Something may have happened to its mother, and it's out searching for food when it should be tucked up sleeping until night falls.  This little hoggy was in luck however, as they had got it some water in a shallow dish, and fed it some meaty cat biscuits. (They can't or won't eat the fishy ones!)

After alerting me, I whisked it away, and its now under the fantastic care of New Milton Hedgehog Rescue, who will get the little one back in tip top condition before I bring it back here to be re-released. We are so lucky in Burton to have such a wonderful Hedgehog community, and such lovely caring children watching out for them.  The children called this little girl "Sparky", and here's hoping she makes a speedy recovery!!!
