Hello and welcome
My name is Mrs Julia Kolbucaj and I am the class teacher for the brilliant Nightingales (Year 5). This year I am again supported by the amazing Mrs Helen Pennock. This year we have a new an exciting curriculum to look forward to. Our year begins with 'Walls and Barricades'.
As the year progresses, our class page will fill with information and photographs showing the learning within our class. Please enjoy scrolling through our page but don't forget to also look at the Year 5 & 6 page where joint learning experiences will be shared.
Nightingales loved our visit to Arundel Castle.

There are more photos on the year 5 and 6 main page.
Our topic for the second half of the autumn term is
The Great War
The children have immensely enjoyed learning about WW1.
Our visit to the Tank Museum was a fantastic success.
Please take a look at the photos from the day.
I have placed them on the main Year 5 and 6 page for everyone to share.
Nightingales loved the Christmas party.
They especially enjoyed decorating their own party tables and choosing their own party food.
An amazing feast was enjoyed by all.
Well done for such creativity.
This is the instructional page for the origami flower that we made in RE.
Welcome back, Happy New Year!
Nightingales are raring to go!
Our first topic of 2018 is all about space. We will be finding out about the solar system and learning about what it takes to become an astronaut. The children will learn about Major Tim Peake and his time in the ISS, design a mission patch, write biographies about Tim, create newspaper reports as well as design a meal suitable for eating on the ISS considering the different food groups and nutritional content.
Nightingales had a go at answering a variety of multiplication word problems. Lots of thinking and discussing and a variety of methods used. in solving the problems.
As part of our maths learning, we used Numicon and Cuisenaire rods to help us understand improper and mixed number fractions.
