The EYFS Duck Class has 24 pupils. Mrs Vaughan is the Class Teacher and Mrs Cook is the Learning Support Assistant.
We love to explore and investigate and spend lots of our time learning through play.
Our topic this half term is 'Crazy Creatures.’ We are investigating different mini-beasts, habitats and also animals in our local environment.
We started the topic with an amazing visit from ‘Crazy creatures’ who brought in many exciting animals.
We have written non-fiction captions linked to our learning and will move on to story writing when we explore ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’
In mathematics we have been measuring and soon will be solving shape problems including halving. We have also continued to practice our number formation.
As a PE focus we have a specialist coming in to teach us relaxation through balance and strength. We are also running our ‘daily mile’ when the weather allows. Our country dancing lessons will also begin in the next few weeks.
We have looked closely at ICT skills and introduced Beebot programming. Soon we will start RMeasimaths on our IPads. We have also asked parents what ICT our Ducks can use at home in the form of a questionnaire.
As part of a home project, the children are also making an Easter Bonnet for a celebration at the end of the term.
We are keen to work in partnership with parents. Photographs of our learning will be on the children’s Tapestry pages. Please feel free to add ‘wow’ moments from home.
However, if you would like to see their learning books and art folder at any point please feel free to pop in.
Please keep an eye on the EYFS notice board which will be updated weekly with our learning outcomes for the week, ways to help at home and important dates or reminders.
